Oh my god, I'm sorry, because I don't even follow you so I can't excuse this, but your assessment of why Arthur and Merlin work together in this 'incarnation' is absolutely spot-on. All that quiet, aching potential! Both of them knowing they can be better and will be better but having to wait until they get there - I don't think the writing always gets it right, but Bradley and Colin capture that so beautifully. I just - agh. I hate the writing on this show almost all the time, but sometimes they give episodes like this where things make a little more sense, and I end up feeling incredibly grateful that we got these two boys out of this entire thing. They are brilliant.
And I'm inclined to agree with anyone who talks about how great that scene with Merlin and Gilli was, so yes, Colin Morgan, you beautiful bastard.
